As part of the surgery, the patellar tendon is moved inward on the tibia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Patellar misalignment can often be the cause of repeated patellar dislocations. Since the risk of cartilage damage in these cases is high, the Blauth technique is recommended for many patients that experience this problem. This will cause the patella to remain in a better position, offering better movement. Dislocations at this point are very unlikely. A few months after the operation, the screws initially used to bind the tendon to the tibia may need to be removed, as a small restriction in range of movement can occur. Caution must be taken when operating on patients with leg deformities, as this type of surgery may increase pressure on certain parts of the knee joint. It may also cause a more rapid deterioration in a patient with bowlegs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading uppercase bold\">Information<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The operative technique developed by Blauth is only used when a lateral retinacular release is unsuccessful. You certainly want to minimise the negative effects of knee surgery, as well as to spend more time than necessary in hospital.
